What is it like to go to school in North Carolina?

Our twitter friends Room 208 at South Elementary School answered our questionnaire about going to school in North Carolina.  Where do you think you would prefer to go to school?

No, we do not wear school uniforms.
How many pupils do you have in your school?
About 550
How many teachers are there?
32 teachers and specialists. We also have 1 Assistant Principal and 1 Head Principal.
How many children in your class?

What is the name of your Head teacher?  Do you have a Deputy Headteacher?
Our Principal’s name is Dr. Cottone. Our Assistant Principal’s name is Mrs. Robinson.

What facilities do you have?
Fields, Library, Two Playgrounds (Big Foot and Little Foot), Gym, Cafeteria. Every student in our school has their own laptop or iPad. Grades K-1 have an iPad and grades 2-3 have a laptop.

How long is your school day?
8:45am - 3:00pm
How many different nationalities come to your school?
In our class, we have Asian, Hispanic, African American, and Caucasian. Our teacher is Caucasian and English.
What subjects do you do? What languages do you learn?
Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, PE, Art, Music, Media, Guidance, and we have a Rosetta Stone lab where we learn Spanish. This begins in Kindergarten.
Do you have assembly?
We have assemblies but only if we need to gather the entire school for an activity. This includes awards, etc.
Do you have devices such as chromebooks and iPads?
Every child in second and third grade have a MacBook Air. Every child in Kindergarten and First grade have an iPad. We are all 1:1 at our school! :)
